Not Much of Anything, and Happy Holidays!

Christmas is next week! Hooray!:) I can't wait! I have had my Christmas shopping done since before Thanksgiving lol. I decided I better write a blog because it has been almost a month since I last wrote one! I got done with finals on December 4 and my final grades ended up being 4 A's an A- and a B- so I was pretty happy about that! I had to stay in Price to work and I get to go home on Tuesday so that is exciting news. It's been kind of lonely here in Price because everyone is home for Christmas break. I think there are maybe five people in the whole apartment building here. Oh well. It's nice to have some time to myself for a little while:) I went to Salt Lake last weekend because I don't work weekends and that was really fun! I got to stay with Greg and Lance and that was fun as always:) They are awesome! I went clubbing for the first time! It was a new experience that's for sure! I liked it though. Anything that involves dancing and LOUD music is the place to be!:) lol. While I was in Salt Lake I also got to chill with some friends that I hadn't seen for a while and that was lots of fun:) I have officially submitted my application to Mt. Hood Community College for the Funeral Service Education program and I will know if I got in or not by the end of February so wish me luck! I will keep you updated on what happens. I'm pretty nervous! My whole life is waiting on that letter lol. Well, I think that is all for now! Have a Merry Christmas and New Year!

Kids Say The Funniest Things

My dad has recently started telling my nephews multiple stories about when he was a "little shaver" and they love hearing his stories and they ask him over and over to tell them more. Well, the other day he was telling them a story about how he went to the grocery store with his mom when he was about three and she bought a big bag of flour. This was when times were really hard and it was a blessing to be able to get groceries at all. Well his mom went into the house to take the other groceries and my dad was still in the car and he decided to play army with this flour they had just gotten. He started beating it and soon enough there was flour everywhere. His mom came out of the house and saw what he had done and she was so mad that she picked him up and through him and he landed a good distance away in the garden on his head. After the story my one nephew said grandpa, is that why you have white hair? It was so funny! I just wanted to share with all of you so you could have a good laugh too.

Trip to Price

It has taken me a long time to blog about this so I apologize. On June 9, 2008 my family made a trip to Price to go see the museum. It was really fun. First we ate lunch at the Dino Mine Adventure Park and the kids really enjoyed that. They loved seeing all the dinosaurs and the mammoth and everything. They didn't want to leave. There is a kids area where they can dig for bones and they had lots of fun with that. On the way back we stopped at Cabela's and I think everyone enjoyed that too. Here are some pics from the trip:

In Loving Memory of A Wonderful Man

This wonderful man who so sadly isn't with us anymore is my grandpa. He was definitely an example to me and I hope that I can be at least half the person he was. I have so many good memories with him. I am so glad that we were able to make so many memories together. He would always take us on trips and spoil us by taking us to lunch and a movie. Also, there was always his farm. He taught us to work hard and save our money but also have fun along the way. He will be missed greatly. I was able to play the piano at his funeral while my dad and brothers sang and I am glad that I got the opportunity to have that experience. I am so thankful to have the knowledge of the gospel to know that someday I will be able to see him again, that will be a glorious reunion.

Here is the obituary that was printed in the newspaper:

Primary Here I Come

When I was 11 going on 12 I was very excited to leave primary and make my way into young womens. Now that I have left young womens and moved on to relief society I will be returning to primary for the summer. I was called to teach the 11/12 year old girls. I will be teaching along with the lady who taught me when I was at that age so that will be fun. Hopefully I can teach the girls and prepare them for young womens and be a good example for them. I'm sure that I will learn a lot from this experience and it will only help me become a better person. This will be a valuable learning opportunity that I can experience while I am home for the summer.

Nauvoo Trip

My college stake decided to go on a trip to Nauvoo this year and it was really fun. Over 200 people ended up going. It was cool to have that many people but it also makes things hard too. We got to go to a lot of places including: An orphanage in Kansas where we did a service project, Independence, Missouri, Liberty Jail, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, Nauvoo, Carthage Jail, and Winter Quarters, Nebraska. We got to see a lot of things and it was really cool. I am glad that I was able to go. I made some new friends and that's always good. Here are some pics from my trip:

Summer Is Here

I am done with a year of college yay! I can't believe how time flies. It still hasn't fully sunk in that I have a full year of college completed. It feels like yesterday that I graduated from high school but that was a year ago. Anyways, I am home for the summer now just working to earn money for fall semester. I can't wait to go back to CEU! I am glad for the summer break though. I am definitely going to miss all my good friends from there. Especially that ones that aren't coming back next year. I wish them all luck in their future plans. Happy Summer everyone!

True Eagle Night

So for all of you that don't know the tradition of true eagle (or aggie or cougar or whatever the school's mascot is) you have to kiss someone on the designated night and it is in a specific area. At CEU it is over a rock named Gibby. At USU it is by the A. Anyways I became a true eagle last night! lol So I kissed this guy named Gary. He is my friend and it was totally random lol. And I got a shirt out of it! YAY! lol Anyways so later in the night I ended up kissing a disabled boy on the cheek and he kissed me on the cheek and he got a shirt. He was so excited! It was so neat. I was really happy that I could make his night. So that was my true eagle experience!

Business Club Competition

On April 2nd and 3rd the business club went up to Ogden to a competition for PBL (professional business leaders). I was signed up to compete in the Business Decision Making event but my instructor forgot to register me with everyone else so I didn't get to compete but that's ok. Our school did pretty good. We have a few people that qualified to go to nationals in Atlanta, GA. I am happy for them. On the night of the 2nd I got to go to the jazz game with my mom and that was really fun. Then on the 3rd she came down to Ogden and we went shopping and I got a whole business suit with the jacket, pants, skirt, and shirt for fewer than thirty dollars! I was so excited! It was an amazing deal. Overall this trip turned out to be really fun and I got to miss class and get excused for it. So even though I didn't get to compete it was still fun.

My Two Cents About Life

Moving away from home and starting a life of my own and making all new friends is a very good learning experience, but it sure can be complicated. I realize now that in high school I had really good friends and I took it for granted. Since I have been at college I have been betrayed and many more things but through it all I have managed to make a few really good friends that I hope will stay good friends for a very long time. I imagined college to be a lot different than it really is. There is a good and bad side to that. I never thought I would have to deal with my friends betraying me, and having roommates is a whole other story in itself. They say life is a highway but in a lot of ways it is more like a rollercoaster. You start out slow and then it all comes at you so fast and you have no time to react, but after all is said and done you will eventually make it back to where you started. I don't want to get all preachy but our goal is to make it back to our Heavenly Father. I heard a saying once that was, "Life is not about the destination, it's about the journey getting there". That is so true. Yes our ultimate goal is to make it back to our Heavenly Father but life is all about the decisions, trials, happiness, etc… that we experience along the way. I know that eventually everything will work out but I feel that in my life right now I am at a standstill. I know that if I put my faith in the Lord everything will fall into place but it is still hard now not knowing what the future holds. The day that I get to return to my Heavenly Parents will be a glorious day. Until that day all I can do is have faith and trust in the Lord, because I believe that He knows what is best for me and will lead me down the path that is best suited for me to experience the things I need to on Earth. There will always be trials and hardships but in return there will be happiness and joy. I will end by saying once again, "Life is not about the destination, it's about the journey getting there".

Battle of the Bands

One of my really good friends, Troy, he is an a band called Today's Tomorrow and they played in battle of the bands at the college tonight. They took second. I think there were like ten bands that competed so second is not bad at all! They actually tied for first as in crowd involvement and stuff like that but they went back and counted their points and they ended up taking second. So it's all good. They are amazing. I love those boys:)

If you want to hear their music go to: www.myspace.com/todaystomorrowrock

Here are some pictures of them from a while ago. All the pictures I got tonight are on my phone so they aren't very good but these are the ones from the first concert of their's that I went to.

Tubing in Heber

My roommate Katie invited me and one of my other roommates, Marci, to go tubing in Heber with her and her family. It is where the cross country skiing took place for the Olympics. They have this machine that drags you up the hill on your tube so you don't have to walk up the hill (this is very convenient). Once you get to the top they have different tracks you can go on. You can go by yourself or with one other person. The first time I went with Marci and we went sitting on the tube instead of on our stomachs and we soon learned that we had made the wrong decision. We got turned around so we were going backwards and I didn't know what to do. Me being short and all I couldn't reach the ground while in the tube so Marci had to drag her feet and hands to get both of us to stop. It all worked out ok but it was pretty scary for a minute! The last time we went down I went with Marci again and we decide to go on our stomachs and it went a lot smoother besides the fact that we started sliding towards the other track and Marci almost went over onto the track next to us! I had to hurry and start dragging my feet to try and get her back over. It was pretty intense. Luckily, we survived and no one got hurt.:)

Trip to Weber

My friend Gail has a daughter, Mandy, who goes to Weber and she is a cheerleader there. Yesterday they had a fundraiser awards ceremony dinner thing with a Hawaiian theme. Gail invited me to go with her. My boss from the museum, Reese, he also went with us to support Mandy (she used to work at the museum too.). It was way fun! After the dinner, we got to go to the school’s basketball game. They won. Yay!:) Here are some pics from the big event.

Good News!

So, I work in the gift shop at the CEU Prehistoric Museum in Price and this crazy lady was the gift shop manager. She has screwed up the schedule so many times that I have lost count. She tells us stuff at work that no one wants to hear about….so when it comes down to it she is just insane! So I got some very good news today…..she quit! YAY!!:) This makes my life so much easier. We get to pick what days we want to work and we don't have to hear about her personal life anymore. I am beyond excited about this. So this is why she quit…..she lost her house ( I don't know why and I don't care why) and she decided to move to Texas to live with her boyfriend. She sounds like a real winner doesn't she!? Lol Well anyways……I don't have to deal with her anymore so this is very good news!

Winter Woes

I really don't like the winter. It just causes too many problems! There are many wrecks, it is cold, and not to mention everyone gets sick! I just happen to be one of the lucky people who get to have the opportunity to have the common cold. Go me! Hopefully I get over it soon……
